Arena Stage  – Voices of Now 2015

Thanks to the support provided by [Friends of Southwest DC] we at Arena Stage are able to offer impactful arts education programs for young people in and around Washington, DC.  One such program is Voices of Now, a devised theater program that guides young artists through a collaborative ensemble-based process of writing and performing original, autobiographical plays that aim to create positive change in the artists’ communities.

This year, 11 ensembles performed during the Voices of Now Festival, held May 13-16, 2015 in Arena Stage’s Arlene and Robert Kogod Cradle.  Additionally, there is a talkback with the audience each night, as these plays are intended to spark a productive dialogue.  We were grateful to have many of you there to experience the beauty of this program in-person, but if you weren’t able to make it to the Festival, don’t worry!  We recorded the performances every evening.

Note: the Friends of Southwest Grant supported the participation of the Jefferson Middle School in the Voices of Now program. Below are the links to the Jefferson Ensemble program and two others from the night of May 14, and the Talkback session.
